I started reading your book in the middle of the night as my mind was racing over my slate of projects. Reading your inscription made me think of my life . . . when it was going well and when it wasn’t. Your inscription was right on target. You captured me with your own grace and grit which always works. You changed my current behavior as I often feel the need to make others’ lives easier at my own expense. I feel sorry for them or I think, “Why not? I can do it.” Or maybe I just want them to think I am a hero and can do everything with ease. Maybe I want them to like me. Reading your book made me accept that I can say NO and that I need to take care of myself as there is only one of me and I cannot use up that commodity. I do not, and I know you do not advocate selfishness. Reading your book made me see things a little more clearly.

Inspirational and informative book for any entrepreneur!

Jennifer Johnson is an absolute inspiration. I wish I had read this book when I started my first business fourteen years ago. Some great wisdom in here. And probably most importantly, much of it is actionable today. Some of her recommendations that resonated with me the most: how important it is to have faith, inspire others, know yourself, be humble, make it happen, and most importantly – laugh and have fun! Life is far too short, we better enjoy it! On a serious note, maybe the most impactful message to me is finding “beauty in our scars.” I would challenge anyone to find a person who hasn’t had significant challenges in their life. We all do. But as Jennifer says, these obstacles make us stronger. And most importantly, if we are still here, then we had the grace to forgive ourselves and others and the grit not to give up no matter how difficult things may get.

I picked up this book looking for a tactical narrative as a busy business owner and parent, and wow I was blown away. The author’s story hits so close to home for me as a relatable, easy to read narrative. Not only inspiring but also applicable to my business and life. Don’t miss this inspiring business and life narrative. A must read for any woman looking to build her business, brand or story.

Tune in to your core values and listen to your internal "whispers"

Grace and Grit by Jennifer Johnson is an inspirational and vulnerable story of how Jennifer, an entrepreneur, learned through determination and hard work to lean into her core values, listen to them, and use them to guide her on her journey through life and business. How she handled setbacks, learned from them to do the right thing, and used her willpower and grit to persevere and succeed. The grind of being busy is not the best way to enjoy the fruits of your labor, and the best ideas come when there is a stillness to journal and have, as she calls it, “pink space” to tune in to what is really important. My key takeaway is to really learn to define those core values, especially when hiring, if your employees and the people who you surround yourself with have your values. They will support you and help you accomplish your mission and vision even when times get tough.
